A BER (Building Energy Rating) will make the energy performance of a home visible. For the first time, this will allow both buyers and tenants to take energy performance into consideration in their decision to purchase or rent a home.
During 2009 energy rating will become a norm and overtime slip into the background to become another consideration during a home selection just like “is the garden big enough for the kids” or is a house in a good location. The big difference will be that a BER is directly linked to your pocket and therefore should not be overlooked.
Simply put “BER information is power”. BER is about equipping you with the power to act in your own best interests, it is not a tax.
The SEI.ie website has a Home Energy Survey section that can help you decide which home improvement projects will make the greatest energy savings and reduce your bills the most.
The cost of a BER assessment is not regulated so prices will vary. Indeed, some newspaper reports have highlighted wide disparities in prices quoted from some assessors and also the length of time taken to do the job.
At Progressive Energy, we believe BER prices currently in this new market place will vary quite wildly, typically prices for a 3 or 4 bed house are from €300 to €350 euro and there have been reports of up to €500 charged.
At Progressive Energy we offer a fast service of unbeatable quality and knowledge at competitive rates that are unbeatable by other rogue competitors and BER agencies that put profit before the quality of their BER and other energy services.
